My name is Yichen Ruan, people also call me Ethan. I am a research scientist at Meta.

I earned my Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. My Ph.D. advisor was Prof. Carlee Joe-Wong, who is the PI of the LIONS research group. My research primarily focuses on federated learning, and the resource allocation in networked systems. Before joining CMU, I got my M.S. degree in Systems Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2017. From 2012 to 2016, I was an undergraduate student in Tsinghua University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, and the second Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
